WHO WE ARE
Building a Luhya Family in Texas
Ushirika Welfare is a nonprofit Kenyan welfare organization for the Luhya community in Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas. We develop and implement community-based programs that create a big Luhya family away from home — promoting African culture, heritage, language, music, and a deep sense of belonging.

MEMBERSHIP
Become Part of Our Family
Membership is open to individuals of Luhya descent — by birth of either parent — or a spouse of a current Ushirika member. Join us in keeping our culture alive.

By Birth
Either parent must be of Luhya descent from any of the Luhya sub-tribes in Western Kenya.

By Marriage
Spouses of current Ushirika Welfare members are welcome to join our community

Location
Members should reside in or around the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex area in Texas.
